Wende Essrow is a wildlife artist and storyteller. Her book is written to inspire young artists to explore nature, and then capture its wonder and magic through art.

A graduate of Alfred University with an undergraduate degree in English Literature and a Masters in Education, Wende has always loved the natural world. When not teaching, she spends her time hiking, cross-country skiing, and painting. She has three grown
children, a new grandson, and lives with her husband and two golden retrievers in the wooded hills of West Falls, New York. She often made up stories to tell her children at bedtime, keeping a tradition of storytelling that her father began with her as far back as she can remember.
